The goal of the Oklahoma Health Information Specialists (OKHIS) Program is to cultivate a community of practice among Oklahoma library staff to better find, evaluate, and share reliable consumer health information.

Libraries have a vital role to play in the health of their communities

The OKHIS program was created to promote access to reliable consumer health information for libraries and their patrons

Participants in the OKHIS program can earn their Level 1 or Level 2 Consumer Health Information Specialization from the Medical Library Association

To date, 107 library staff from 67 Oklahoma libraries have earned their Level 1 or Level 2 CHIS
